Guwahati, May 30: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Saturday told media persons during a press briefing at Guwahati that to ease the tension among the kin of COVID-19 patients admitted in the government hospitals across the state, the State Government is considering ways to appoint Public Relations Officers who would respond to the queries made by family members of patients under treatment at the hospitals.

At this development, advocate Dharmananda Deb of Silchar who had recently written to Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli requesting her to inform the family members or attendants of the COVID-19 patients admitted in both Government and Private hospitals of the district about the health condition has expressed happiness and said he is optimistic about the move.

" We are passing through an unprecedented situation wherein anxiety among the family members of the COVID-19 afflicted patients who are admitted in hospitals runs high. Hence, a daily update on the health status of the patients to their family members via any means of communication would ease the worries a great deal. I am happy to know that honourable Chief Minister has taken this point on priority and decided to consider appointing PROs across the government hospitals for responding to the queries on health status of the patients. I am hopeful that this move shall be implemented soon," advocate Deb maintained. He added that providing the daily updates about patients' condition would develop confidence and trust in the system of governance as well.
