Assam notifies Dihing Patkai as National Park

Guwahati, Jun 9: Assam today got its seventh National Park, within five days of having its sixth National Park announced.


Dihing Patkai has been declared as a National Park, making it the seventh in the State. This latest addition comes in close heels of Raimona being declared a National Park on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5.


"The newly created National Parks will help to boost conservation efforts and provide fillip to tourism and agriculture sectors," State Environment and Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya said here today, making the latest announcement.
