108 Mrityunjoy service attends 242 road mishaps, 13 burn cases during Diwali

Guwahati, Nov 6: The GVK-EMRI 108 Mrityunjoy service attended altogether 242 road accidents cases and 13 burn cases in the two days of Diwali across the State.

As per the statistics, on November 4, the emergency service received 129 road accident cases and six burn related cases. On the other hand, on November 5, 113 road accident cases and seven burn cases were reported to the emergency services. Among those cases, 19 road accident cases were reported from Sonitpur district followed by Dhemaji (17) and Kamrup (15) districts. Notably, on Saturday the GVK-EMRI 108 Mrityunjoy service completed 13 years of service in the State.


According to a statement, the emergency service attended as many as 46,54,126 emergency cases across the state and saved 1,79,684 lives in the past 13 years. During the period, this service also handled 17,66,430 pregnancy cases, 2,74,565 road traffic accident cases, 1,66,248 cardiac related cases, 6,41,346 acute abdominal cases and 1,50,802 respiratory cases.

In Assam, 793 ambulances and seven boat ambulances are serving people under the initiative.

Fire incident:

According to the officials of Fire and Emergency Services, altogether 25 fire incidents were reported during the Diwali across the State. Among those cases, 13 fire cases related to firecrackers and three cases related to naked flame were reported on November 4. However, eight cases related to firecrackers and one case related to naked flame reported on November 5 across the State.
