GUWAHATI, April 27 � Guwahati retained the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy clinching the Elite Group Senior Inter District Cricket Championship.

Chasing a winning target of 48 in the second innings, Guwahati smacked 51 losing two wickets in 12.5 overs on the third day of the four-day final.

Silchar, could only add 28 runs to their overnight total of 161 for six. Guwahati�s spinner Gokul Sharma again proved unpayable for the Silchar batsmen as he came out with a six-wicket haul. Today he took all the remaining four wickets of the visiting team giving away just 14 runs.

Guwahati lost Rishav Das (7) and Pallav Das (4) as Rajib Kalita (23) and Abhijit Singha Roy (13) remained unbeaten.

In the closing function, Assam Cricket Association treasurer Ghanashyam Baruah gave away the trophies. Journalist Subodh Malla Baruah and ACA official Manindra Nath Saikia were also present on the occasion as guests.
