GUWAHATI, June 2 � General Manager of North East Frontier Railway RS Virdi today inspected the ready rake of the Guwahati-Mumbai (LTT) Express at New Guwahati pit line in presence of a host of senior officials as part of the ongoing Customer Facilitation Fortnight titled �Railyatri/ Upabhokta Pakhwada�.
Inspecting the rake, Virdi said that passengers� safety and convenience have always been of prime importance for railways and that it is being continuously ensured that the passengers� amenities are not compromised with at any cost.
Virdi said that rakes after returning from every trip are given trip maintenance at the nominated pitline for the rake as per the prescribed guidelines.
�It is after the fitness certificate is issued that a train is deemed fit to run in all fronts and the entire exercise takes at least six hours. Almost all levels of staff are engaged in the supervision exercise,� Virdi said.
During maintenance at pit, a number of exercises including under-gear and upper-gear examination and rake cleaning take place. Guwahati at present has three pit lines including one in New Guwahati, Guwahati and Kamakhya.
Chief Electrical Engineer Ratan Lal, Chief Mechanical Engineer SK Agarwal and Sailendra Jha, Chief Commercial Manager were present on the occasion, among others. The Railyatri/Upabhokta Pakhwada� began on June 26 and will continue till June 9.
