Guwahati Jal Board organises public meet

GUWAHATI, March 8 - The Guwahati Jal Board (GJB) organised a public meeting at Bikash Nagar Rajahuwa Namghar, Borsajai here today to create awareness among the residents about the new water supply project being implemented by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). After completion, the project will be fully managed by the GJB.

In the meeting, the project team emphasised on the core message that after completion of this new water supply project, the residents of Guwahati will get 24x7 clean and treated drinking water with adequate pressure.

The meeting started with the screening of a documentary based on the project, followed by a power point presentation and an interactive session between the public and the project team members. The residents of the area expressed their concern about the project completion period as in most of the lanes and by-lanes of Bikash Nagar, pipe laying has not been done. The residents also wanted to know about the pipe laying schedule and the monthly water tariff.

The project team informed the public that as a part of responsibility towards public awareness and to redress their grievances, a customer care centre has been established.
