GUWAHATI, Aug 20 - Encompassing events ranging from technology and management to fun and music, the 18th edition of the annual techno-management festival of IIT Guwahati - Techniche � will get under way on September 1.
�Techniche being a complete student organisation, always endeavours to promote and uplift issues concerning technology in the North East, besides encouraging students through its exciting events and interesting competitions. It provides a platform to students to prove their worth on national level,� Labanu Konwar, Assistant Registrar of Public Relations IIT-G, said at a press conference today.
Among the events in this year�s Techniche is the eighth edition of the Guwahati half marathon which is scheduled for August 28. The theme of this year�s marathon is �Run for Tobacco Free India.� This will be followed by a six-km run for the general public.
The event will also see the presence of footballer Durga Boro who represents Guwahati FC as a striker.
�Techniche is a confluence of some of the most logical and technically proficient brains from around the world. Techniche is all about showing your calibre, appreciating and respecting the mettle in your opponent,� Vikram Aditya, convener of Techniche�16, said.
Techniche�16 will also witness a number of eminent personalities drawn from diverse fields such as Prof Ada Yonath (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009) and Carlo Palazzani (Designer of Ferrari Design Studio) as part of a lecture series, while Amit Sethi (CIO and president of Axis Bank Ltd) and PR Ramesh will be delivering lectures as part of the Industrial Conclave.
In addition, there will be programmes like Robotics, workshops, corporate module, literary module, Funniche, cultural extravaganzas, etc.
