Guwahati Biotech Park awarded

GUWAHATI, Jan 19 � The pavilion of the Guwahati Biotech Park has been awarded the best state pavilion award in the 102 nd session of the Indian Science Congress (ISC) held in the University of Mumbai from January 3 to January 7 this year. The Biotech Park participated in the Science Congress with the focal theme � �Science and Technology for Human Development� and it showcased its facilities and activities and the available resources of Assam and the North Eastern region as well for undertaking research and development (R&D) activities and industrial utilisation. The award was presented to the representative of Biotech Park by Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik at the valedictory function of the Science Congress, sources said.

Guwahati Biotech Park is a visionary initiative launched by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in collaboration with Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India.

Chief Executive Officer of the Biotech Park Dr J Balaji has informed that the State Government has already allotted 65 bighas of land at Amingaon on the north bank, near the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup, for setting up the permanent campus of the Biotech Park, which is presently functioning from the IIT Guwahati campus the sources added.
