Guwahati-Bhutan flights soon

GUWAHATI, March 9 (PTI) - Bhutan will start flight operations with Assam on the Guwahati-Bhutan-Bangkok sector soon and the service will be subsequently extended to Patna.

Official sources today said Bhutan Consul General in Kolkata Dasho Tsering Wangdo had met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi last night.

Wangdo had requested the CM to ensure that students coming from his country would avail excellent facilities at the educational institutions here. Gogoi has offered all assistance of his government in this ragard.

"There is a great degree of stability in Assam with insurgency on the wane. As a result, thousands of Bhutanese come everyday for doing business in Assam, particularly in Chirang district. We want our next-door neighbour to prosper as therein lies our strength," Wangdo has been quoted as saying.

The neighbouring country would be begin flight operations on the Guwahati-Bhutan-Bangkok route soon.
