Guv visits art and craft college

GUWAHATI, July 12 - Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi, who visited the Government College of Art and Craft at Basistha today, directed VB Pyarelal, Additional Chief Secretary, Cultural Affairs, to ensure government intervention for improving the academic and infrastructure facilities of the college.

He further asked the Additional Chief Secretary to fill up all vacant faculty posts in the college and take steps for renovation of the existing facilities.

Prof Mukhi asked Gauhati University Vice-Chancellor Mridul Hazarika to take all necessary action to reduce the duration of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) course from the existing five years to four years, keeping it at par with the other universities.

He asked the VC to ensure that the examinations of BFA course for the Govt College of Art and Craft are held in time and results declared in time.

Interacting with the students, Prof Mukhi assured them that he would do everything possible to restore the pride and prestige of the institution.
