Guv urges youths to follow ideals of Sankaradeva

KAZIRANGA SAMANWAY KSHETRA (Dergaon), Feb 6 - Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi appealed to the youths to follow the ideals of Srimanta Sankaradeva for building a prosperous State .

Participating in the 89 th annual session of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha at the Kaziranga Sammanaya Kshetra in Golaghat today, Governor said that Sankardeva united Assam culturally and strengthened its society by demolishing caste barriers, uplifting women and lower caste people by stressing on �One God and One world�. He encouraged to improve their economic condition and agricultural production.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that to propagate the philosophy of Sarimanta Sankaradeva across the globe, Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha has been playing a crucial role. To take Gurujona�s teachings far and wide, the State government would contribute Rs 10 crore to the corpus of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha.

The Chief Minister also said that the university set up in the name of Srimanta Sankaradeva should transform itself into a centre of excellence and the State government would allot additional 300 bighas to the university authority. He also informed that his government for the first time has decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardeva officially.

He added that Srimanta Sankaradeva�s ingenuity in the fields of social, cultural and spiritual landscape has given a strong personality to the people of the state in 21st century.The Chief Minister also said that moved by the teachings of Gurujona, the people of Assam should work hard and take a pledge to make themselves ideal citizens and win over hearts and minds of everybody.

Synchronising with the occasion, Sonowal released a Nepali version of �Namghosa�.�

The session was attended among others by Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta, MLAs Bhaben Bharali and Ramakanta Deuri, Padadhikar SrimantaSankardeva Sangha Kamala Kanta Gogoi, Chief Advisor Bhabendra Nath Deka and secretary Babul Bora.
