GUWAHATI, June 20 � Governor PB Acharya has asked Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Chairman Rakesh Paul to meet him at the Raj Bhawan here tomorrow in presence of members of the Assam Public Works (APW).
APW president Abhijit Sarma told this newspaper that a six-member APW delegation met the Governor at the Raj Bhawan this evening and told him in detail about the alleged irregularities committed by the APSC Chairman.
The Governor told the APW delegation led by Sarma, that since Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has declared an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the APSC, hence he (Governor) would not institute any inquiry into these allegations. However, he resented the fact that the Chief Minister has not fixed any deadline for completion of the inquiry.
The Governor, who was shocked to hear from the APW members about the irregularities in the APSC, has called Paul to the Raj Bhawan to explain his position on the allegations. The Governor asked the APW members too, to be present during his meeting with the APSC Chairman, Sarma said.
