Guv flags off �Run for Nation�

GUWAHATI, Sept 11 - Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi flagged off a mass jogging programme � christened �Bharat Jago Doud� or �Run for Nation� � to commemorate the 127th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda�s Chicago speech, at the SAI Complex here this morning.

Students from different schools participated in the mass jogging that was organised by Kreeda Bharati.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said Swami Vivekananda represented Hinduism at the Parliament of World�s Religions at Chicago on this day and projected Hinduism in all its pristine glory.

Prof Mukhi said the upcoming generations across the globe should be acquainted with the ideals and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda in order to shape a strong character and cultivate an enormous love for the nation.

Prof Mukhi also said that sport not only heals or upgrades the physical life of a human being, it has also impact on mental well-being. Sporting activities encourage healthy competition among the members of the young fraternity of the country and foster a strong confidence and spirit among the youth. He also said that everyone should prepare themselves in any form of sport to keep themselves healthy physically and mentally.

SAI Regional Director Dr Subhash Basumutary, Atmashuddhananda of Rama Krishna Mission, Tayabun Nisha, a veteran athlete who represented India at the 1982 Asian Games, president of Kreeda Bharati Amal Deka, along with a host of other dignitaries were present during the flag-off ceremony.
