Guv extends Ambubachi greetings

GUWAHATI, June 21 � Governor of Assam and Nagaland PB Acharya has conveyed his greetings to all the people, devotees and pilgrims on the auspicious occasion of the Ambubachi Mela which begins tomorrow at the Kamakhya shrine.

Ambubachi Mela is held annually during monsoon in the month of Ahaar at the Kamakhya temple.

While paying his obeisance to the Goddess, the Governor has appealed to the organising committee � the Kamakhya Debottar Board � and the government authorities concerned, NGOs and all other voluntary organisations involved, and also to the devout pilgrims and general public, to ensure the maintenance of peace, order and discipline during all the days of the festival and also to ensure that the temple campus and all the surrounding areas are kept clean and orderly.

The Governor also urged the organisers and all authorities concerned to make certain that all pilgrims are provided with proper arrangements so that they can have a safe and comfortable stay on all the days.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi formally inaugurated camps for Ambubachi pilgrims at the Kamakhya Railway Station and Sonaram school field this evening. Tourism Minister Sumitra Doley Patir and Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu were present on the occasion.
