GUWAHATI, Aug 19 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal greeted Governor-designate of Assam Banwarilal Purohit on his arrival at the LGBI Airport in the city late evening today.
The Chief Minister greeted the Governor-designate with a bouquet of flowers and extended his best wishes to him.
Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister for PHED Rihon Daimary, Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia, DGP Mukesh Sahay and a host of officials were present on the occasion.
The appointment of Purohit, a former MP and Managing Editor of central India�s popular newspaper The Hitavada, as the Governor of Assam was announced by the President on Wednesday.
