ITANAGAR, July 4 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa and Chief Minister Kalikho Pul today greeted the people of the State in general and the Apatani brethren in particular on the occasion of Dree festival and expressed hope that the festivity will usher in good harvest, peace, prosperity and happiness for all.
Dree, which is an agricultural festival celebrated with spiritual invocations and rites, highlights the vibrant culture and traditions of Apatani tribe. It is one of the rich cultural assets of the State and at the same time, it reinforces the splendid cultural fabric of our society.
The celebration of the festival has always helped the community to preserve its rich heritage, carry it forward and to pass on to the younger generation, said the Governor in his message. He appealed to the elders and youth to take pride in their ethnicity, healthy and vibrant customs, traditions, folklores, folk dances, songs etc and preserve it for the benefit of future generations.
In his message, the Chief Minister said that the Dree Festival like many other tribal festivals of the State epitomises the rich legacy of the hardworking spirit of ingenious forefathers that gives us a distinct identity today.
