KOKRAJHAR, Aug 17 - Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi has assured good governance in the BTC area. Talking to mediapersons on Monday at Khalasi Jharbari under Haltugaon Forest Division in Kokrajhar district, Prof Mukhi reiterated that as long as he is at the helm of BTC administration, it is his responsibility to maintain a clean system under proper rules and regulations in the area and such a �good governance� will be handed over to the newly-elected government.
He further mentioned that the election in the BTC area will be held soon, but before the responsibility is handed over to the elected government, the administration should be in proper order. Replying to a question on the recent dismissal of around 29 illegal appointees in the Department of Transport, BTC, Mukhi said that the action was taken by the administrative authorities following an inquiry into a complaint made as per rule, adding that all such appointments were found illegal. He also said that further action will be taken against the authorities concerned responsible for such illegal appointments.
Mukhi said that to strengthen project �Hariyali,� 40 lakhs saplings will be planted in BTAD within the end of this month, out of which 31 lakh saplings have already covered several areas till date. It may be mentioned here that in connection with the project �Hariyali�, the Governor on Monday morning took part in a massive plantation drive of more than 1,000 saplings in Khalasi Jharbari village under Haltugaon Forest Division in Kokrajhar district.
BTAD IGP, and Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Kokrajhar along with top Forest department officials also attended the programme. Later, Mukhi also took part in several plantation drives in different places of Kokrajhar district.
