�Gurukulam� comes to the aid of e-learners in Pub Nalbari Edu block

NALBARI, Aug 3 - Nearly 100 teachers of Pub Nalbari Education block in Nalbari district are daily making some good quality videos to help in the academic activities of students of government schools through the e-learning process.

Salma Akhtar of Mazdia LP School or Nabanita Deka of Malikuchi LP School teach English to lower primary students, Samaresh Boro of Bangnabari LP School teaches social science. The assistant teacher of Kala Fakirtola Moktab, Ajit Das is making some videos for art education. The other teachers are also making good quality videos in other subjects like Assamese, Hindi, Science, Environmental Science for the students.

Gurukulam, a YouTube channel of Pub Nalbari Education block now has become a common platform of teachers to show their teaching skills for students. The YouTube channel Gurukulam has now become an ideal platform for the students of the district in particular and the State in general. In the last three weeks, Gurukulam touched 45,000 viewers. Though the schools have remained closed, the teachers are not sitting idle in their homes as they have been trying to reach out to students by using every means.

Talking to this correspondent, assistant teachers Rupali Barman of Ulabari MV School and Kamal Kalita of Bijulighat MV School said that they have trying to extend academic support through phone calls to those students who have no android phone. A good number of teachers have visited the students from house to house maintaining COVID-19 guidelines as those students cannot be reached through telephones.

As the schools in the State have been closed for the last four months due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Education department in Nalbari district has been trying to popularise the e-learning system in the district, the Block Elementary Education Officer, Pub Nalbari Nikunja Barman said. In order to involve the students in the teaching-learning process in their respective homes, the district elementary education officer (DEEO), Simanta Kumar Deka had directed all the teachers to gear up the e-learning process to fill up the academic gap of the students. With the opening up of YouTube channel �Gurukulam� the Pub Nalbari Education block in the district has started the e-learning process in a systematic way.

While talking to this correspondent, the BEEO of Pub Nalbari Education block Barman said that he constituted an academic core group to prepare some academic videos on the basis of syllabus and uploaded them on YouTube every morning. He added that the e-learning process covered the students from classes 1 to 8. �We select a subject every day and prepare videos for each class by the expert teachers�, he added. He added that when the technical team uploaded the videos, the cluster resource centre coordinators (CRCC) share the link in their respective teachers groups so that the academic videos reach the students easily. The concerned teachers discuss the videos with the students. The teachers have also provided the students with some question banks to the students prepared at the district level. The hard copies of the questions bank have been distributed to the students by the concerned teachers house to house.

While the guardians are in a dilemma over the academic future of their children, the steps taken by the education block has been highly appreciated by the people. It is learnt that the academic YouTube channel Gurukulam of Pub Nalbari Education block is the first in its kind to popularise the e-learning process in the State during this pandemic crisis. The initiatives taken by the core group members � sub inspectors of schools Samin Baishya, Inamul Mazid, Pulak Thakuria, Subhash Barman have also accelerated the process in the block.
