Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrated

GUWAHATI, Nov 12 - The 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikh religion, was celebrated in the State along with the rest of the country today. Since early morning people from various walks of life made a beeline to the gurdwaras which were decked up for the Guru Nanak Jayanti.

Celebrated on the day of Kartik Purnima (full moon day), the day saw continuous recital of Akhand Path. Langars (community feasting) were also offered in all the gurdwaras.

Governor Jagdish Mukhi attended the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at Guru Nanak Senior Secondary School at Sarabhati in the city.

He also visited the newly-built gurdwara near the school, greeted the people and also prayed for the welfare of all sections of the people in the State.
