JALUKBARI, March 13 - The week-long Gauhati University Varsity Week-2019 kicked off on the GU campus today. It will continue till March 20.

At the inaugural programme, Vice Chancellor Dr Mridul Hazarika hoisted the GU flag, while PGSU flag was hoisted by its president Luckymoni Boruah.

Dr Hazarika in his speech said that the Varsity Week would promote real sportsmanship among the students and offer them a medium to explore their hidden talents.

All the academic departments and the hostels participated in the march-past where the Vice Chancellor received the guard of honour from the marching contingents. The programme was attended by Prof Nani Gopal Mahanta, Register i/c; Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati, Director of Students� Welfare; Dr HK Nath, Secretary, University Classes and all the PGSU members including president Boruah and general secretary Nayanjyoti Gogoi.

Around two hundred competitions have been lined up for the week-long programme.
