GU unit marks NSS Day with webinar

JALUKBARI, Sept 25 - The Gauhati University NSS Cell yesterday organised a webinar on the occasion of NSS Day and celebration of NSS Golden Jubilee Year, 2020.

Attending the webinar as the chief guest, Dr LR Bishnoi, Additional Director General of Police, Assam, made an in-depth presentation on �The role of youth towards their society and importance of NSS volunteers in nation building,� emphasising the NSS motto of �Not Me But You� and to work selflessly for society.

In a message, GU Vice Chancellor Prof Pratap Jyoti Handique, wishing everyone a happy NSS Day praised NSS volunteers and programme officers for their service to society.

Manoj Kr Das, ex-Director of Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, and presently with the NERAMAC, was a guest of honour. He focused on various scopes for youths to hone their entrepreneurial skills through personality development.

Das also called for a �Vocal for Local� approach to entrepreneurship development. He also termed the New Education Policy a boon to students.

Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati, Director, Students� Welfare and Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, GU, addressing the webinar focused on the importance of volunteering for personality development.

The programme was moderated by Dr Mitali Kathkatia, Associate Professor and NSS PO, DK Girls� College, Mirza.

Around 250 volunteers and programme officers from different GU-affiliated colleges, along with participants from across the country, attended the webinar that aimed at creating awareness among youths and building a good personality during the ongoing pandemic.
