GU task force to keep tab on people

GUWAHATI, April 2 - The Gauhati University authority constituted a task force comprising 23 of its employees with the aim to monitor the movement of people and to offer necessary suggestions from time to time to the security officials, so that the University community stays safe from COVID-19.

The task force comprises Prof HC Gautam as chairperson and security officer of the University as the convener. Other members of the task force are Prof HC Gautam, Prof Akhil Ranjan Dutta, Prof Anurup Gohain Barua, Prof Rajib Handique, Prof Partha Pratim Borua, Prof Asha Kuthari Chaudhuri, Prof Kalyanee Boruah, Prof Tulshi Bezboruah, Prof Dwipen Bezbaruah, Prof Rekibuddin Ahmed, Prof Prasanta Saikia, Prof Bibha Bharali, Dr Nityananda Deka, Dr Pranjal Saikia, Dr Tilak Hazarika, Dr Bikash Gogoi, Dr Kushal Kalita, Dr Sameer Sarkar, Arabinda Sarma, Monowar Hussain and Gunajet Choudhury along with the Deputy Registrar of the institution.

Moreover, in a recent notification, the GU authority declared the campus as a completely closed campus and banned movement of any outsider through the campus. It directed all its residents to confine themselves at home as much as possible and not to allow in domestic help who come from outside the campus.

The authority also asked its employees and their family members, who have recent travel history, to disclose the same at the university hospital. It stated that negligence of this direction will be treated as an act of indiscipline.
