GU, NRDC sign MoA on technology commercialisation

GUWAHATI, June 2 - A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been signed between the Gauhati University (GU) and the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) to promote, develop and commercialise the technologies, inventions and other intellectual properties such as copyright, Geographical Indicators, design, trademark, etc. The MoA was signed at a programme held at GU on Friday.

The agreement will also focus on providing technical assistance for acquiring intellectual property rights at national as well as international levels. It also intends to provide expert services in IPR management, training, techno-commercial evaluation of technologies developed by faculties and students of GU. It will also help in establishing linkages with research funding agencies, facilitating startups and setting up of an incubation centre at the GU.

The MoA was signed by Dr H Purushotham, CMD of NRDC, while the GU was represented by Registrar Dr Suresh Kr Nath. The programme was also attended by Prof Prodeep Phukan, Coordinator, IPR Cell and Uday Kumar Khanikar, Joint Registrar of GU. Amit Ranjan and Dr Bula Choudhury, Coordinating Officers of the North East Cell of NRDC and Dr Madan Gopal Barthakur, Senior Scientist, Guwahati Biotech Park were also present.
