GU issues standard operating procedure for exams

GUWAHATI, Aug 23 - Gauhati University has issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for conducting different examinations of the university itself and its affiliated colleges and institutions.

As per the SOP, the matter of promotion of intermediate semester students will be considered on the basis of internal assessment marks and theory marks they scored in the earlier semesters.

Meanwhile, the university made it clear that the matter of promotion is subject to the fact that students have completed the online submission of examination forms.

According to the SOP, the final semester examinations will be conducted in blended mode by maintaining the COVID-19 protocols and relevant SOP published by the University Grant Commission (UGC).

Moreover, the question papers for offline examination will cover the whole syllabus but the students need to attempt questions for only 50 per cent of marks and the remaining 50 per cent marks will be calculated based on the internal assessment.

The SOP further requested heads of all academic departments of the university to finalise the mode of action concerning dissertation in consultation with the controller of examinations of the university.

Notably, in an earlier notification, the Gauhati University authority has announced September 1 as the tentative date for reopening the campus. In the same notification, the varsity also mentioned that it has undertaken all kinds of measures including sanitization, painting of hostels, etc., to resume the academic activities.

The university authority pointed out that only the examinee batch of the students will be called and allowed to stay in the campus till completion of the examination. Moreover, the university also announced to provide accommodation for students staying in private hostels or as paying guests in its hostels at free of cost up to completion of their respective examinations.
