GUWAHATI, March 7 - The Gauhati University (GU) has assured the Asam Sahitya Sabha that it would re-introduce Assamese as a medium of instruction at the degree level. It will also accept Assamese as a medium for writing theses, etc.

Disclosing this in a statement here, Sabha general secretary Padum Rajkhowa said that GU Vice Chancellor Dr Mridul Hazarika also assured a delegation of the literary body led by its president Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi that modern Indian language (MIL) would be made compulsory at the degree level.
