By CORRESPONDENT

JALUKBARI, Jan 6 - Gauhati University reached the top 10 in the matter of submission of theses of its research scholars at Shodhganga, a repository of theses submitted by Indian scholars.

The Shodhganga provides a platform for research scholars to deposit their PhD theses and make them available to the entire scholarly community in open access. The repository has the ability to capture, index, store, disseminate and preserve ETDs submitted by the researchers.

Aligarh Muslim University tops the chart with 5,900 theses deposited by it, followed by Anna University with 3,054 theses and Gauhati University with 1,784 theses.

The KK Handiqui Library has so far scanned eight lakh two thousand pages of theses and made it available in Shodhganga, an open source for research references which can be accessed by researchers from wherever they are. The librarian of the library told this correspondent that in the near future they would be able to put in more research works in order to facilitate the students.

The submission of theses will ensure that the work of a research scholar cannot be replicated by other scholars.
