GTC outclass River Rine

GUWAHATI, April 8 � Gauhati Town Club (GTC) outclassed River Rine Club by a huge margin of 222 runs in a totally one-sided affair of the Santipur Challenge Cricket Tournament for the Aruna Das and Raismodi Nunisa Trophy at the Nehru Stadium here today.

Riding on three solid knocks by Zakaria Zuffri (82), Palashjyoti Das (57) and Amit Sinha (55), GTC amassed a mammoth 299 for eight in the stipulated 40 overs. The GTC batsmen made merry of the River Rine bowlers and sent the fielders on a leather hunt from the very first over.

Later chasing the total, the River Rine batsmen found it tough in tackling the GTC bowlers and surrendered meekly. They were skittled out for 77 in 24.5 overs.

Zakaria was adjudged man-of-the-match for his 74-ball 82.
