GUWAHATI, June 23 � Gauhati Town Club (GTC) emerged champions in the Guwahati Sports Association�s A Division Cricket League and lifted the Madhab Ram Bora Trophy. In the summit clash at the Judges� Field here today, Gauhati Town Club posted a six-wicket victory against Nabajyoti Club.

Opting to use the track first, Nabajyoti managed to score 140 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 30 overs. Nipon Deka (26) and Sunil Ranjan Gogoi (24) were the only notable contributors as other Nabajyoti batsmen failed to hit form. Deep Bora and Suraj Rai took two wickets each for the winning team.

Chasing the modest total, Town batsmen looked comfortable and riding on man-of-the-match Bastab Hazarika�s 41 and Deep Bora�s unbeaten 44, they reached the target in 27.1 overs losing four wickets.

Brief scores: Nabajyoti 140/7 (Nipon Deka 26, Sunil Ranjan Gogoi 24, Deep Bora 2/19, Suraj Rai 2/24).
