GUWAHATI, Aug 7 - The historic Gauhati Town Club (GTC) has inducted 31 U-17 youngsters in its academy and the induction ceremony of the new batch was held at the its club house today on its 109th Foundation Day.
Delegation of FIFA, AIFF and Assam Football Association attended the function where the GTC secretary Devojit Saikia elaborated about their football academy.
Former Union Minister Ranee Narah, Saju Prabhakaran, FIFA Development Officer of the South East Asia, Vinvent Subramaniam, FIFA Technical Director of India, Savio Madeira, AIFF coaching official, Sunanda Dhar, CEO of AIFF, Anjan Choudhury, Technical Director of GTC FA, Hemendra Nath Brahma, president of AFA, Ankur Dutta, secretary were present on the function which was chaired by Joydeep Baruah, working president of GTC.
Apart from local and players of different part of Assam, few players from Manipur and Nagaland also inducted in the new batch.
GTC today offered life membership to former international footballers Debashis Roy, Gilberson Sangma and noted star cricketer Abu Nechim Ahmed.
