IMPHAL, Feb 21 - Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar, who holds the finance portfolio, today said that the State�s tax revenue has increased manifold after the introduction of the GST (Goods & Service Tax).
The total GST revenue collected in the State from July 2017 to January 2019 is Rs 857.89 crore, Joykumar said while replying to a question on GST revenue protection for the next year by opposition Congress MLA Surjakumar Okram in the State Assembly today.
The maximum amount of Rs 69.56 crore was collected in June 2018 after the introduction of GST in the State.
The government has projected to collect GST revenue of around Rs 765.78 crore in the next year, Joykumar said.
He also informed the House that that a GST council meeting will be held in New Delhi on February 24.
�In order to raise additional resources, the State Government has taken a decision to introduce Manipur State lotteries,� he said. �We expect to get about Rs 100 crore as additional resources through the lotteries�, he added.
