HAFLONG, June 2 The Lower Haflong Government Railway Police (GRP) rescued at least five unconscious people including one aged lady from the Up Cachar Express coming from Silchar on Saturday night at the Lower Haflong Railway Station and arrested one Bijan Malakar of Rongpur, Silchar in this connection. All the rescued persons were admitted to the Haflong Civil Hospital.

GRP personnel disclosed that the passengers fell unconscious after taking drugs-laced tea, biscuits and drinks, served by some unknown miscreants with the intention of looting their valuables. Some others who did not consume the tea or biscuits informed the GRP escort party.

The accused person, has however, pleaded innocence, saying that some other person mixed the drug and fled from the scene, and the GRP has failed to catch the main culprit.
