GUWAHATI, July 26 � Green Valley Sports Club and City Police opened their accounts in the Jibeswar Goswami GSA A Division Football League.
In two matches of the championship at the Nehru Stadium here today, Green Valley defeated a spirited Rising XI 5-2 while City Police outplayed Abutani Sports Club.
On the second ground, Michal Lucky Kelechukwu struck thrice for Green Valley while Maneswar Basumatary and Sanjeeva Rongpi added one each.
But the Rising boys put up a spirited show in the match and levelled the scoreline 2-2 in the 54th minute. Indrajit Sonowal scored both the goals in the 35th and 54th minutes. However Rising players failed to maintain their form in the later part and conceded three goals between 63rd and 72nd minutes.
The highlight of the other match was a hattrick by Police striket Monoj Ahmed who netted three consecutive goals in the 13th, 62nd and 76th minutes. Substitute Ajay Basumatary added one in the added time.
