Green Valley outwit Ganga SC

By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 27 - FC Green Valley continued their winning run in the RG Baruah GSA Super Division Football League.

In their second encounter at the Nehru Stadium here today, Green Valley thrashed Ganga SC 4-0.

Green Valley clearly dominated the proceeding from the initial stage and their Nigerian striking duo Michael Lucky and George Prince were simply unstopable. They were frequently fed by mid-fielder Gaiham Raonmei from the very beginning.

George drew the first blood in the 22nd minute with a firm header off a flag kick taken by Gaiham (1-0). They earned the corner following a move initiated by Gaiham, Michael and George.

Michael made it 2-0 at the fag end of the first session. It was a soft goal as the Ganga goalkeeper Pralay Dutta left his place unnecessarily after his defenders were beaten and Michael gently pushed the ball home.

It was Green Valley captain Lucky Imran who netted his teams third goal converting a spot kick. George was brought down by the Ganga defender Johny Lalrinzuala inside the box and Lucky bulged the net with a well placed drive (3-0).

Finally Michael completed the rout in the 58th minute with a solo effort. Taking advantage of the disorganised opponent defence Michael dodged past at least three opponent defenders and gently placed the ball in the goal (4-0).

A Division: Assam Police Blues rallied to hold Rajbari Athletic Club in the Jibeswar Goswami A Division Football League.

On the second ground, MC Lawa put Rajbari ahead in the 22nd minute but Sanjay Rabha levelled the issue in the 32nd minute.

Todays matches: ASEB vs NF Rly (Super Div); Dynamo vs City Police.
