MORIGAON, Sept 14 � Green Valley Sports Club breezed past KIYC Club of Imphal 3-2 in a thrilling quarterfinal match of the 43rd Motiram Bora Football Championship at the Khirod Baruah Stadium here today. Babatunde put Green Valley ahead in the 10 minute but in the 41st minute M Romi Singh restored parity and the half-time scoreline read 1-1.
Michael Lucky took Green Valley 3-1 ahead scoring in the 67th and 83rd minutes. However, Romi Singh reduced the margin 5 minutes before the time.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by former international footballer Swadhin Dekaraja yesterday. In the inaugural match, MP United Club edged past Swamsubrang of Kokrajhar 1-0. Piyunk Kelu scored the match-winning goal in the 25th minute.
