MORIGAON, Nov 4 � Guwahati outfit Green Valley Sports Club lifted the Motiram Bora Trophy winning its 40th edition.
In the one-sided summit clash at the Khirod Baruah Stadium here today, Green Valley handed a 5-2 drubbing to 9th AP Bn before a capacity crowd.
Demolishing the Battalion defence, Green Valley went 3-0 ahead within 35th minute. Apurba Phukan opened the account in the 30th minute, while Pijush Dey and Dhananjay Brahma added one each in the 31st and 35th minutes respectively.
Sabir Ali and Apurba scored again in the second session in 50th and 52nd minutes respectively. For 9th Battalion, Joseph Ahmed scored both the goals in the 54th and 79th minutes.
Joseph was adjudged best player of the tournament which was organised by Morigaon Sports Association.
Morigaon Municipality Board chairman Muhibur Rehman was the chief guest in the closing function and he gave away the trophy to the winning team.
Earlier, Morigaon SP Anurag Agarwal was introduced to the players before the final match.
