GUWAHATI, Aug 8 � Green Valley Sports Club managed to earn full points with a 1-0 victory against Ganga Sports Club in today�s match of the RG Baruah GSA Super League Football League.
In the well fought encounter at the Nehru Stadium here, George Prince nodded the ball into the Ganga goal in the 62nd minute off a Apurba Phukan centre.
The Ganga defenders were in confusion when Apurba lobbed the ball into their striking zone. George took the opportunity and gently headed the ball into the net.
In the later part of the match, George squandered a couple of scoring opportunities from the striking range. Their defender Fayajuddin Shah also missed from top of the box as his shot went straight to the Ganga goalkeeper Munshi Saifuddin�s gloves.
Lalengliand Darlong could have put his team Ganga SC ahead in the 12th minute but he shot wide from a close range off a centre from Raphael Lalchhanchhuaha.
In the 78th minute, Ganga striker Elkana Rosangzela missed an easy opportunity as he failed to keep the ball inside the goal receiving a pass from Thanil Singh.
