GUWAHATI, Dec 10 - After Meghalaya and Mizoram, Assam is all set to witness its first ever Baby League, as Sportscraft Management and Guwahati City FC (GCFC) have announced the opening date of the Greater Guwahati Baby League (GGBL).
The league, exclusively designed for 6 to 13 years old kids, is supported by the Assam Football Association (AFA) and is organised under rules and regulations of the All India Football Federation�s ambitious Baby League project. The League will start from December 16 at the Nehru Stadium here.
Altogether 20 teams have confirmed participation in the league which is divided into four age categories � 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 years. The matches will be held every Sunday for 5 months so that the budding footballers get sufficient game time as well as time to recover like professional football leagues.
A workshop on Baby League was organised at the AFA office here on Saturday, a release said.
