GUWAHATI, June 26 - The Guwahati Press Club (GPC) has written to Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner and Guwahati Police Commissioner to allow the Club to issue temporary identity cards to authorised newspaper hawkers based in Guwahati for the ensuing 14-day lockdown.

The Club had earlier issued temporary identity cards to all the newspaper hawkers based in Guwahati, which really proved handy in view of the problems faced by the hawkers while distributing daily newspapers during the lockdown period.

Issue of I-cards would not only facilitate hassle-free movement of hawkers during the specified hours, but, at the same time, will also make the job of the law enforcers easier, a statement by GPC president Manoj Kumar Nath and general secretary Sanjoy Ray said.
