GPC distributes thermal scanners to media houses

GUWAHATI, April 29 - In its bid protect the media fraternity from the COVID-19 pandemic, Guwahati Press Club (GPC) today distributed infrared thermal scanners to all the major media houses of Guwahati. The initiative was supported by the Indian Oil Corporation (Assam Oil Division).

The scanners meant for measuring body temperature were handed over to representatives from various media houses including print, electronic and web portals at a function organised at GPC.

Speaking on the occasion, PK Kakoty, General Manager (Lubes), IndianOil AOD, thanked the media for their tireless efforts and for supporting IndianOil during these crucial times and requested their support in future too.

�Mediapersons are playing a pivotal role in our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and it is therefore very important that their safety issues are taken care of. We are very happy to be part of such a noble initiative,� Kakoty said.

Kakoty also hailed the initiative taken by GPC and assured it of IndianOil�s support in the future as well.

Office-bearers of GPC, including its president Manoj Kumar Nath and general secretary Sanjoy Ray, while expressing gratitude to IndianOil for sponsoring the thermal scanners, said the scanners would act as an important asset in the current scenario when the threat of coronavirus is looming large.

The function was compered by GPC assistant general secretary Manisha Kalita and the vote of thanks was offered by cultural secretary Pallabi Bora. From IndianOil, the event was also attended by RK Deori, Bhaskarjya Pratik Baishya and Shekhar Jyoti Dutta.
