By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 6 A joint meeting of the All Assam Tribal Sangha, All Assam Scheduled Caste Youth-Students Union, Takam Mising Porin Kebang and the TET Successful SC ST Union held at the Tribal Rest House here yesterday condemned the anti-ST and anti-SC activities of the State Government. The leaders of the participanting organisations present in the meeting decided to gherao the residence of States Education Minister Sarat Barkotoky on July 10 to register their protest against such activities of the Government. They also decided to stage dharnas at the district and sub-divisional headquarters of the State on July 20.

The leaders alleged that around 5,000 posts of school teachers meant for the SC and ST candidates were de-reserved and against those posts, general category candidates were recruited on May 20, 2012 and August 12, 2012. Though the Government instituted a special TET examination for the SC and ST candidates on May 25, 2014, for the past over one year there is no effort made to absorb the candidates who cleared the TET.
