Govt to set up Wildlife Police Stations

GUWAHATI, Feb 28 � Under fire from all quarters over failure to curb rhino poaching, the State government today announced plans to start Wildlife Police Stations with first such station to come up soon at the Kaziranga National Park (KNP).

�We will set up a Wildlife Police Station which will deal exclusively with issues like poaching and such issues. The first such police station will be set up at KNP,� Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi told reporters here. The police station will be manned by both police personnel and forest guards. He added that in future another such police station is also likely to be set up at Manas.
