Govt to review DCs, SPs performance

GUWAHATI, May 3 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said that proper evaluation of the performance of the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police would be carried out within the next three months.

Addressing the valedictory function of the two-day meeting of the DCs and SPs, Gogoi urged the DCs to accelerate the pace of development and ensure timely implementation of welfare-oriented schemes, said an official release.

Gogoi asked the DCs to ensure timely implementation of welfare schemes and ensure proper utilisation of funds. �The DCs must strictly monitor and review the progress of each and every scheme and ensure proper utilisation of funds,� he said.

The Chief Minister called upon the DCs to accord top priority to total sanitation campaign, drinking water, health-related issues like Infant Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Rate in which the State is lagging behind.

Gogoi exhorted upon the DCs to involve the Panchayati Raj Institutions to expedite the development process. He also emphasised on involving the NGOs in implementing government schemes.
