Govt ready for free passage to ULFA men

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, June 13 The State Government is trying to rope in more cadres of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in the process of negotiation with the militant outfit.

Informing this at a press conference here today, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that those who are available in the State, including the ones inside jail, have expressed their willingness to settle the issues through negotiation.

We will need the commandants of the ULFA battalions too. Some of them are for a negotiated settlement, he said.

When asked as to whether the Government would provide free passage to those underground leaders of the outfit willing to take part in the negotiation, he said, We will provide all facilities to those interested in talks.

On the issue of extortion, he said that extortion cases have come down.
