Govt prepares for CEE for MBBS, BDS

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 27 - The State Government has started the process of holding the Common Entrance Test (CEE) for admission into the MBBS and BDS courses in the State.

The development comes in the wake of the Centres ordinance allowing the State governments to hold the entrance test. The Centre sent its notification (of the ordinance dated May 23) to the State governments on May 25.

The State Government will now be holding the examination in the last part of June or in the first week of July. The process for the same has been started after the State Government received the Centres notification to that effect on May 25, sources in the Education Department said.

The State Government had earlier put on hold the CEE for MBBS and BDS courses scheduled for May 14 and 15 in view of the Supreme Courts ruling to conduct a nationwide common entrance test the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET).

The apex court, however, later relented allowing the States to hold their respective entrance tests for the year 2016 in view of the States inability to implement the directive within the current year.
