GUWAHATI, Oct 21 - The Assam government is unlikely to grant permission to the organisations planning to hold a rally in the city on November 17 in support of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
Official sources said the possible outcome of allowing holding of such a rally was discussed in a high-level meeting here yesterday and it was decided that no rally that may create disturbance will be allowed. However, sources said that so far no organisation has formally approached the government seeking permission to hold the rally.
