Govt in Assam failed on all fronts: AIUDF

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 26 Criticising the Congress government in the State, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has termed the 14th anniversary of the government as an anniversary of failures.

In a statement, AIUDF General Secretary (Organisation) and MLA Hafiz Bashir Ahmed Kasimi said that the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress regime has failed to deliver on all fronts during its 14 years in power.

The government has been a total failure in the law and order front. It has failed to provide security to the citizens, Kasimi said. He said that barring one or two constituencies of ruling party members, the rest of the State has not witnessed any developmental work.

There has been multiple ethnic conflicts during this period, Kasimi said, adding that the government has failed to ensure protection of the minorities.

The repeated violence in BTAD, Assam-Nagaland border, Assam-Arunachal border and other places, cannot be termed as a success of the State government, he added.

Kasimi said that the people of Assam would not have rejected Congress party in a comprehensive manner during last years Lok Sabha polls if the government in Dispur had really worked for the benefit of the masses.

The Lok Sabha poll results and the results to the BTAD council bring forth the loss of faith of the electorate on the Congress regime, he said. The AIUDF leader alleged that corruption has reached new heights in the State.
