MANGALDAI, June 12 � The Deputy Commissioner of Darrang district, Manoj Kumar has said that the government health institutions must provide quality healthcare facilities to poor patients, so that these institutions gain public confidence.
He was talking to reporters at the Kharupetia Primary Health Centre campus on Wednesday after monitoring every subject related to quality health care service in the hospital, including the regular attendance of doctors and paramedical staff, their present strength, functioning of the machinery and the equipment, stock position of emergency drugs, cleanliness and hygiene etc. The visit of the Deputy Commissioner to the hospital, is regarded as significant after recent reports of alleged negligence towards the patients by a section of the authorities came to the fore. This included the sensational incident of suspension of a Kharupetia PHC-based specialist doctor on charges of serious negligence of duty.
The Deputy Commissioner also held talks separately with the doctors and the paramedical staff of the hospital and reportedly assured them of all kind of necessary security and support from the district administration, while urging them to dedicate themselves to providing quality service and help bringing back public confidence on them. He was accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Razvee Hussain, Joint Director of Health Services, Darrang, Dr Manjula Medhi and Ashraful Amin, Circle Officer, Dalgaon Revenue Circle.
