GUWAHATI, Jan 27: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said that his government has been able to fulfill the promises made to the people of Assam and exuded confidence about the BJP-led NDA retaining power in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

“People of Assam extended full cooperation to our government during the last four and half years and we were able to successfully implement all the social welfare schemes and developmental projects of the Central and State governments. People are fully with the BJP government and they will continue to remain with us,” Sonowal told reporters on the sidelines of an event organized by the State BJP to flag off the party’s audio visual vans.

The vans will visit all the 126 constituencies of Assam and highlight the achievements of the BJP-led State government in digital format among the masses. A total of 100 such vans will be used.

“Our government has been able to achieve a lot in a very short period and people of the State are satisfied with our performance. Democracy means power of the people and that is why we have launched this initiative to seek feedback and suggestions of the masses while preparing our manifesto for the next five years,” said the Chief Minister.

State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that the people of Assam are upset with the Congress-AIUDF alliance.

“The BJP will come back to power on the back of the government’s achievements and the party’s activities. Voters of Assam will reject the Congress-AIUDF alliance by using the power of the ballot,” Dass said.

Earlier, speaking during the event to flag off the audio visual vans, Sonowal said that the BJP-led State government has been able to achieve “notable success” in making Assam free of corruption, terrorism, pollution and foreigners.

He also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the State government to develop Assam’s infrastructural facilities, besides mentioning other programmes and schemes undertaken during last four and half years.
