NALBARI, June 17 � The decision of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to establish the State women�s university at his home district Jorhat has irked the Nalbari people who have been demanding this institute at Nalbari district since long back.
In a press release, Diljit Barman and Pankaj Barman, coordinators of �Sahodar�, a leading organisation working for the development of Nalbari district, have alleged that though Chief Minister Gogoi has been raising voice for equal development of all parts of the State, it has been proved to be a false policy of the government. Even the Chief Minister appears to be �selfish� before the people of the State, they said.
�We are not against establishment of this university in Jorhat district but we have been deprived on all fronts for last 62 years since independence.
�Sahodar� further alleged that the Chief Minister when attended the open session of Nalbari Mahotsav organised by �Sahodar� assured to set up an educational institution in Nalbari district but he failed to keep his promise.
They further stated that the proposed veterinary college of Nalbari district was shifted to the Lakhimpur district, the Additional Chief Engineer�s Office of ASEB was shifted to Bongaigaon and presently the PWD�s State Road office is being planned to be shifted to Golaghat district by Ajanta Neog.
Training prog: In order to create awareness about the Central Government-sponsored schemes like National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Right to Information (RTI) Act, Chief Minister�s Asom Vikash Yojana (AVY), the Nalbari town committee of Block Congress has organised a training programmes among the youths at Nalbari Natya Mandir. The presidents of block Congress and cadres of Aam Admi Ka Sipahi took part in the day-long training programme.
Addressing the training programme as guest, the national coordinator of Aam Admi Ka Sipahi Charita Laiphalang called upon the young generation of Congress to work for creating awareness among the public about the beneficial schemes for the public being implement by the Congress Governments at the Centre and in the State.
The inaugural meeting, presided over by Abjal Ali, president of Nalbari district Youth Congress, was attend by Aam Admi Ka Sipahi�s State coordinator Jayanta Malla Baruah. In the training programme, resource persons from each concerned department took part and discussed the aims and objective of the Central government schemes.
