IMPHAL, Sept 14 Manipur Government is exploring ways and means to solve the burning issue of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) implementation in the border State.
The government is trying to solve the issue by consulting experts in diverse fields. We will be holding another round of all political party committee meeting tomorrow to discuss it, said Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam. He was responding to a question on the governments stand on ILPS on the sideline of a function here today.
If necessary, well go to the national capital and apprise the matter to the Centre, he added.
Manipur is facing a public outcry under the aegis of the Joint Committee on ILPS for the immediate implementation of ILPS in the State to control the influx of illegal migrants.
To another question whether the government is ready to bring out a white paper on the ILPS issue, Gaikhangam, who holds the Home portfolio, said, Were examining it.
Stating that the State Government is serious on the issue, he said that the State Assembly had on two occasions passed resolutions to implement it.
Meanwhile, the Students Wing of the JCILPS has relaxed its indefinite curfew imposed on non-locals for six days (till September 19) after an understanding with the State Government at a meeting last evening.
The JCILPS imposed an indefinite curfew on non-locals in pursuance of its demands for implementation of ILPS in the State, suspension of Additional SP (Traffic) Yengkhom Victoria for her alleged action against JCILPS and unconditional release of all members of the Committee who were arrested in connection with the ongoing agitation.
A member of JCILPS Students Wing on Saturday said the government representatives gave its assurance that all arrested members of JCLIPS will be released unconditionally before September 19. The meeting also resolved that normal classes in the educational institutions in the State which were closed since September 11, will resume from September 15, he added.
